FRISCO, Texas — With only a one percent chance of making the playoffs, the Dallas Cowboys will cling to that hope when the Los Angeles Chargers walk onto the field at AT&T Stadium this coming Sunday, their matchup in Week 16 being one of the somewhat rare occasions in which they've squared off.
Brian Schottenheimer is hoping to reverse a recent trend against the Chargers, no less, the Cowboys having dropped the last two contests, in 2021 and 2023, getting back to the groove Dallas was in when they won the prior three games — in 2009, 2013 and 2017.
WHEN AND WHERE:
Date: Sunday, Dec. 21
Time: Noon CT
Location: AT&T Stadium (Arlington, TX)
The two teams have only met a total of 13 times in their history, the Cowboys owning an 8-5 record in those matchups, and this iteration will feature Dak Prescott and Justin Herbert attempting to impose their will upon the other's defensive counterparts. George Pickens and CeeDee Lamb are looking to help Javonte Williams set the tone for Prescott, and Herbert has his own stable of weapons that now includes Omarion Hampton, back from injury.
Contrarily, the Cowboys are uncertain if All-Pro defensive tackle Quinnen Williams will be available as he works his way through the league's concussion protocol, and DaRon Bland is nursing a foot injury that could limit him, or worse, with the availability of Trevon Diggs still in question heading into the weekend.
The Cowboys are hoping to end the season on a high note, but the Chargers have other plans, and only one team will be left standing.
