Defensive Assistant Ben Bloom Expected To Replace Eberflus as New LB Coach

The Cowboys haven't officially made any coaching announcements this offseason, although several new faces are already in the building, while others are gone and/or with new teams.

One coach staying put and likely moving into a new role is Ben Bloom, who is expected to be the team's new linebacker coach.

Currently, the Cowboys have not announced that Matt Eberflus is no longer on the staff, however it has been widely reported and speculated that Eberflus will join Patriots OC Josh McDaniels if and when he lands the head coaching job in Indianapolis.

While this will be his first time to lead a position, Bloom has been with the Cowboys since 2011 in various roles, including 2012 when was an assistant linebacker coach. That season, with the Cowboys playing a 3-4 scheme, both DeMarcus Ware and Anthony Spencer were selected to the Pro Bowl.

With Bloom expected to take over the linebacker spot, it leaves on tight end and special teams coordinator as positions that need to be addressed. Assistant special teams coach Keith O'Quinn has been linked to both spots as a potential candidate.
