Elam Gets 2 Picks In His 2nd Practice

New safety Abram Elam is quickly making plays. In only his second practice since signing a one-year deal with the Cowboys, he intercepted Tony Romo twice during team drills -- both picks resulting from overthrown passes.

Elam has three career interceptions in five seasons, including two interceptions last year with the Browns. The Cowboys are looking for more consistent takeaways from their secondary.

"Put myself in position to make those plays, and when those plays show up, gotta go out and make them," he said after practice. That's what the great ones do.

"I'm going to continue to get better. I know there's a lot of things in my game I can steadily improve and those are the things I'm working on."
