Holland's Injury Gives Arkin More Chances

While it seems clear the Cowboys would like to eventually see David Arkin take over at right guard, that process is being pushed somewhat.

Montrae Holland, the right guard starter since the first of camp, left the walk-through Friday morning with a back injury. He was hobbled on Wednesday and left practice for a while with an apparent knee injury as well.

Holland replaced Leonard Davis in the lineup after the Cowboys parted ways to save salary cap room. And while owner/GM Jerry Jones has praised Holland's work and his ability to stay ready in every opportunity he's received, the Cowboys will always be looking for an upgrade there.

Arkin has played plenty of guard in camp, mostly on the left side with Kyle Kosier having to sit out because the new CBA wasn't signed and official. Now Arkin slides over to the right side – a move that will probably help his versatility and make him a viable game-day option as a backup.

That's assuming that he doesn't  take this opportunity to another level and push for a starting job.
