IRVING, Texas – As expected, the Cowboys will play Sunday's game in Philadelphia without starting tailback DeMarco Murray, according to Jerry Jones.

The owner/general manager told 105.3 "The Fan" on Tuesday morning that Murray will likely miss the showdown with the Eagles because of his sprained knee injury he suffered against the Redskins last Sunday night.

"We'll miss him certainly this coming week," Jones said. "But we'll see from there."

As for DeMarcus Ware, Jones said there is a possibility the defensive end would be able to play in some capacity this week with the quad injury, but that doesn't mean the Cowboys will let him. [embedded_ad]

"We'll be pretty conservative with that because we know how bad we're going to need DeMarcus down the road – not that we don't need him against Philadelphia." Jones said.  "With that in mind, I can't tell you. It could be that he has the ability to go and playing ability on a certain basis as early as this weekend against Philadelphia. On the other hand, we may want to be conservative and make sure that things gets in better shape."

As for adding defensive line help, the Cowboys are expected to sign veteran Jarius Wynn, who was recently cut by the Chargers and has played five years in the NFL, including three with the Packers. But Jones also said it's unlikely they would make any trades for more D-line help, especially if it involves high draft picks.

During the NBC broadcast of Sunday's game with Washington, Jones conducted an interview with Michele Tafoya, who asked him about Jay Ratliff's status. She later implied on the air that she got the impression Ratliff might not ever play again with the Cowboys, especially this year.

Jones addressed that situation on Tuesday.

"I think she made an accurate statement. There's no question that's a possibility," Jones said about Ratliff potentially missing the rest of the year. "I don't know about done in Dallas, if you look at the rest of Jay's career. But certainly for this year, we've got a situation that's not positive as to him getting out on the field. We're going to see this week what we're going to do this week, technically."

Jones said if Ratliff indeed misses the rest of the year it would be for "complete injury" reasons. Ratliff is still dealing with a groin/sports hernia issue that plagued him last season.

"The facts are, it's still an ambiguous situation regarding his injury," Jones said.
