Mailbag: Most Troublesome Free Agent Position? Future At DT Position?

What position could be most impacted by one of our free agents leaving town?

Bryan:I don't see Lawrence getting signed when tagged so that leaves Hitchens or Ladouceur as possibilities. I would hate to see what direction this club would go if they had to replace one of the most reliable long snappers in the league. He is worth every penny they would pay him on a new contract.

David:The easy answer is defensive line, but I don't think the Cowboys will let DeMarcus Lawrence get away. So I actually think it's the offensive line. Starting left guard Jonathan Cooper is a free agent, as are two of your best depth pieces in Byron Bell and Joe Looney. Depending on what happens, the Cowboys could find themselves needing a new left guard and a new swing tackle.

Your prediction right now for the next year's starting 3-technique DT: David Irving, Tyrone Crawford, Maleik Collins or a draft pick?

Bryan:I am going to say Irving is going to be the starter at the under tackle. I believe we're going to see a second-round tender on him and no one bite so that will make him your guy.

David:If he's here, I would imagine it'll be David Irving. That's obviously no guarantee, so I'll say this: if Irving is here, he's your starter. If he's not, I'd guess the Cowboys will use the draft pick they get in exchange for Irving on a defensive tackle.
