"We're going to see how it feels after running (Monday), not really running, but jogging a little bit, some movement," Dunbar said. "It's picking up day by day, just trying to see how it's going to react."

- Former Chiefs linebacker Edgar Jones joined the Cowboys' locker room this week after coming to Dallas in a trade. He said right now he's worrying only about playing fast and not thinking too much as he gets accustomed to the Dallas defense.
"It's a privilege being a part of the Cowboys, a team that's America's Team, definitely excited about being here," Jones said. "Little surprised, it was the first time it happened with me being traded. Like I said, this is a league where you've got to adapt and just move on, handle things how they come. When I found out, I was excited about the opportunity, and you embrace it."
Jones has the ability to play both linebacker and defensive line, but it's more likely it'll be the latter with the Cowboys. Dallas also brought in another defensive end in Caesar Rayford from the Colts on Tuesday, adding depth in case Anthony Spencer can't play this weekend.
- Head coach Jason Garrett wouldn't divulge his plan if Spencer can't go, but h4 said he's very confident in George Selvie. One thing that is clear is that Jones and new addition Kyle Bosworth will contribute on special teams.
- Center Travis Frederick might be the only rookie draft pick to start this weekend for the Cowboys this weekend, but he doesn't expect the nerves to get to him too much in the home opener. [embedded_ad]
"I'm excited," Frederick said. "We've already played at home, obviously it was a preseason game. It's probably going to be a little bit bigger against the Giants I'm sure, but I've played in big crowds before and things like that, so I'm not really worried about it. For me, it's more about the game, it's not about who's watching."
- It's easy for players to provide generic answers about how hard the team worked in the preseason, but DeMarco Murray was a little more honest.
"We're not the only team working hard," Murray said. "We're not the only team coming in Mondays, full pads, we're not the only team doing that. So we've got to separate ourselves come Sunday about execution, about finishing, and those two things are going to get us over the hump."
