IRVING, Texas – The Cowboys went through their final practice of the week Friday at Valley Ranch.

The morning's practice was originally scheduled to be held at AT&T Stadium because of rain in the area, but the team altered the plan and practiced in a steady rainfall at the team facility instead.

Anthony Spencer was out of practice for the second time this week. The defensive end was instead on the treadmills in the Cowboys' weight room – the same routine as his Wednesday absence from practice. Spencer has only done limited work without pads this week, so it remains to be seen if he will suit up against the Rams on Sunday. [embedded_ad]

Dez Bryant was at practice and was participating fully with the wide receivers during the open portion of the morning. Bryant appeared to be moving much better after working cautiously earlier in the week because of his back problems.

Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones said Friday morning on 105.3 The Fan that he thought Brian Waters might be ready to start fulltime Sunday against the Rams.

"He's played just really good and he can help us," Jones said in the radio interview.

Despite that assessment, Waters was working with the second team offensive line at practice while Mackenzy Bernadeau held the starting spot.

Elsewhere, J.J. Wilcox appeared to maintain his hold on a starting safety spot opposite Barry Church. Wilcox said Thursday he was only working in rotation, but this is the second straight day the rookie has worked with the first team defense in practice.

As has been the trend this week, Ernie Sims was also at practice but was working alone, in a limited capacity with the Cowboys' trainers.
