Practice Update: Sticking To Wednesday Routine, Romo Sits Out; LT Also Misses

IRVING, Texas– With NFL games going on across the league, the Cowboys were on the practice field Sunday afternoon as well.

Although inside Valley Ranch, the team is on a Wednesday schedule, considering they play the Bears on Thursday in Chicago.

And like all Wednesdays since this year, quarterback Tony Romo was not practicing although he did participate in the morning walk-through. Romo is expected to practice on Monday (Thursday schedule) and should be ready to face the Bears.

The guy protecting his blind-side was also out of practice on Sunday. Tyron Smith is sick and held out of practice and team meetings. The Cowboys are hopeful Smith will be back on Monday.

Other players missing include safety Jeff Heath (thumb surgery), cornerback Tyler Patmon (knee) and linebacker Dekoda Watson (hamstring). Patmon and Watson were on the side field with a conditioning coach.

The Cowboys added wide receiver Chris Boyd to the practice squad. The 6-4 rookie from Vanderbilt spent training camp and the preseason with the Cowboys. His size could beneficial this week on the scout team as the club prepares for the Bears' oversized receivers Brandon Marshall, Alshon Jeffrey and even former Cowboys tight end Martellus Bennett.
