IRVING, Texas – The Cowboys placed cornerback Orlando Scandrick on injured reserve and signed defensive tackle Rob Callaway from the practice squad.

Scandrick had surgery on his hand after injuring it against the Redskins on Thanksgiving. The Cowboys hoped to avoid placing him on injured reserve, but they could use the depth on the defensive line with Jay Ratliff out this weekend with a groin injury.

Callaway signed with the Lions as an undrafted rookie free agent from Saginaw Valley State in 2010, spending that season on the practice squad, before the Cowboys placed the defensive lineman on their practice squad last season.

He recorded at least one combined tackle in each of the Cowboys' four preseason games this year.
