Six Draft Picks Get Signed

The Cowboys have begun their first official practice of training camp Thursday afternoon, which includes five draft picks that were able to sign before the start.

Most importantly, offensive tackle and first-round pick Tyron Smith was able to sign his contract just in time to make it on the field for practice. Smith signed a four-year, $12.5 million contract with all of it guaranteed.

Along with Smith, guard David Arkin, fullback Shaun Chapas, cornerback Josh Thomas and wide receiver Dwayne Harris have all signed and should be able to practice by the end of Thursday's session. Seventh-round pick Bill Nagy was the only draft pick to sign early and attend the morning walk-through.

That only leaves DeMarco Murray and Bruce Carter yet to sign. Carter won't likely practice right away because of his knee injury he suffered last November.
