IRVING, Texas --The rumors became official Wednesday night: Terrell Owens is heading back to Dallas -- specifically the north suburb of Allen, Texas -- as the new wide receiver for the Allen Wranglers of the Indoor Football League.
Owens announced his decision via Twitter. The Wranglers' general manager is Cowboys Ring of Honor member Drew Pearson. Reports say Owens will also have a part-ownership role.
Owens, 38, played three seasons for the Cowboys from 2006-08, catching 235 passes. He registered at least 10 touchdowns and 1,000 yards each year.
He was out of football last year due in part to his recovery from a torn ACL. A return to the NFL is uncertain, particularly at his advancing age, but the IFL might be a start.
