Two Nights Before Jones' Induction, Cowboys In Aug. 3 Hall Of Fame Game

FRISCO, Texas – Two nights before Jerry Jones is formally inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the Cowboys will face the Arizona Cardinals in their preseason opener: the annual Hall Fame Game in Canton, Ohio.

Kickoff at the new Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium is set for Thursday, Aug. 3 at 7 p.m. Central, the Pro Football Hall of Fame announced Thursday.

It's the Cowboys' sixth all-time appearance Hall of Fame Game (1968, 1979, 1999, 2010, 2013). Their most recent trip, 2013 against the Miami Dolphins, took place the weekend of Larry Allen's Hall of Fame induction.

The rest of the Cowboys' preseason schedule has not been announced yet. Details on the start of training camp haven't been announced either, though typically NFL teams begin training camp two weeks before their first preseason game.

Jones was elected to the Hall of Fame's 2017 class on Super Bowl weekend in Houston. The Cowboys' longtime owner/general manager is the 16th Hall of Fame member elected based on his accomplishments with the Cowboys.

The Cardinals have a Hall of Fame connection this year, too: 2017 inductee Kurt Warner, who led Arizona to its first Super Bowl appearance during the 2008 season – part of his five-year run with the team.

Jones, Warner and the other members of the 2017 Hall of Fame class (Morten Andersen, Terrell Davis, Kenny Easley, Jason Taylor and LaDainian Tomlinson) will be inducted at the annual enshrinement ceremony scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 5 at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium.
