For the second straight year, wide receiver Titus Ryan has been placed on the waived/injured list following the first preseason game.
Ryan has been out for the last 10 days with a sprained foot and the Cowboys decided to use his roster spot by placing him on waivers where he will likely receive an injury settlement.
The Cowboys have signed wide receiver Curtis Clay, a speedster from TCU. Like Ryan, Clay (6-0, 193) has some punt return ability. In four years, he did have just 34 catches, including three touchdowns.
It will be an uphill battle for any of the young receivers to make it, especially after Thursday's preseason opener in which fifth-round pick Dwayne Harris all but locked up a spot with a 127-yard receiving night that had two touchdown catches, including the game-winner in the final seconds.
Undrafted rookie Raymond Radway continued to shine with a touchdown catch and an impressive kickoff return that led to the game-winning drive.
Clay will look to battle for playing time at the bottom of the receiver depth chart with the likes of James Cleveland, Tysson Poots, Manny Johnson, Teddy Williams and Jesse Holley.
