Mailbag: Addressing D-Line Depth After Maliek Collins' Foot Injury?

JAY CHAN

LONG BEACH, CA

Since Maliek Collins just went down, how come the Cowboys are not interested in signing Jonathan Hankins?

Bryan: They like their one-technique tackles to have three-technique traits. Hankins doesn't fit that for them.

David:He's not done making his free agent visits, but I think it's way more likely they come to an agreement with Terrell McClain. He can play both defensive tackle spots, and he knows this scheme. One way or another, I do think they'll add a guy. We'll have to wait and see who it is.

I know the team isn't done with the DT position, but based on the growing crowd of DEs, and the sparse depth in the middle, do you think it's likely that Tyrone Crawford gets moved inside? If so, how do you like his ability to stop the run and rush the passer?

Bryan: I don't see Crawford moving back inside. It appears just from seeing how he physically looks now that he's on a mission to slim down and play right end. If they do move him inside it will be only in nickel situations.

David:I thought Crawford really found a home on the right side last year. He's good against the run, he can create pressure and his motor is non-stop. Not to mention, the poor dude has gotten moved all over the line in the last three years. I'd rather just leave him where he's at and see if he can get even better at that spot.
