FRISCO, Texas – After 11 NFL seasons, former Cowboys wide receiver T.Y. Hilton announced on Wednesday that he was retiring from the NFL.

Hilton, now 36, played his final NFL season with the Cowboys in 2022. After going unsigned for most of the offseason and regular season, Dallas added him to the roster in December as the Cowboys were closing in on the playoffs.

After being inactive in his first game, Hilton suited up for the first time in Week 16 against the Philadelphia Eagles, where he caught just one pass.

His only reception and first as a Cowboys in that game, however, was arguably the biggest catch of the day. It came with the Cowboys trailing by seven with 8:03 remaining in the fourth quarter on third down and 30. Dak Prescott dropped a 52-yard pass over Hilton's shoulder along the sideline with two Eagles defenders in coverage to keep the drive alive.

"It was awesome and it sparked us," Hilton said of the play after the game. "If I'm able to do that, sky's the limit for us."

Three plays later, Prescott found CeeDee Lamb for a game-tying touchdown. After two Brett Maher field goals afterwards, Dallas beat the Eagles 40-34 to improve to 11-4 and clinch the fifth-place slot in the NFC Playoffs.

In his five total games with Dallas, Hilton caught just ten passes for 159 yards. He didn't fill up the stat sheet quite like he had with the Indianapolis Colts in the 10 seasons prior where he was a four-time Pro Bowler, but Hilton did prove he still had some juice left in the tank.

"Just because my age says I'm 33 doesn't mean I can't still run. I put it on tape today. I look forward to the next couple of weeks and I'm just gonna continue to get better, continue to stay in my playbook and continue to help this team." Hilton said after Dallas' Week 16 win over the Eagles.

Across his 11 NFL seasons, Hilton finished his career with 638 receptions, 9,812 receiving yards and 53 touchdowns. Hilton led the NFL in receiving yards in 2016, his third of four straight Pro Bowl seasons, with 1,448 yards on a career-high 91 receptions.
