Past/Present: Murray to join Chiefs as RB coach

Former Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray, who has spent the last seven years coaching in college, is headed back to the NFL. Murray is expected to join the Kansas City Chiefs staff as a running backs coach.

Murray spent seven years in the NFL, including his first four with the Cowboys, earning two of his three career Pro Bowl selections. In 2014, Murray was named NFL Offensive Player of the Year, rushing for 1,845 yards. Not only does he hold the single-season Cowboys rushing record for that season, but also the single-game record with 253 yards he set in 2011 as a rookie.

After his four years in Dallas, Murray spent one year with the Eagles and two with the Titans.

Murray spent one year has been the RB coach at the University of Arizona in 2019, before having the same role at Oklahoma for the next six seasons. Murray was expected to coach at OU with former teammate Jason Witten, who was recently named the Sooners' tight ends coach.
