FRISCO, Texas â The Cowboys; 34-26 loss at the hands of the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday night was a disappointing one, not just for how the game was played, but for what the game meant for Dallas' hopes to reach the post season.
Heading into the game, the Cowboys already had a sub-10% chance of making the playoffs anyways, but now that number has dipped to below one percent, according to Next Gen Stats.
With three games remaining, Dallas now needs to win out and the Philadelphia Eagles need to lose out, which would place the Cowboys atop the NFC East.
Let's dive into some more telling numbers from Sunday night in Arlington:
3
Following Sunday night's game, George Pickens' receiving total for the year sits at 1,212 yards, which is the most by a Cowboys player in their first season with the team in franchise history.
4
With 91 yards on 15 attempts, Javonte Williams averaged 6.1 yards per carry against the Vikings. That's tied for his third-highest yards per carry of the season, and marks the fourth time in 2025 he's averaged 6+ yards per carry.
6
In total, the Cowboys defense generated just six pressures on Minnesota QB J.J. McCarthy. The Vikings and McCarthy took advantage of the extra time, as McCarthy completed 10 of his 14 passing attempts for 187 yards and touchdown when given more than 2.5 seconds to throw.
10.4
Vikings QB J.J. McCarthy finished his night 15 of 24 through the air for a career high 250 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. His 10.4 yards per passing attempt was also a career high, nearly three yards per attempt higher than his previous career high set earlier this season.
16.7%
On 12 total third down attempts for the Cowboys offense, Dallas converted just two of them for a 16.7% conversion rate, their lowest of the season. The Cowboys fared much better on fourth down, where they were three of four (75%).
27
With 111 yards on six catches Sunday night, CeeDee Lamb now has 27 100+ yard receiving games in his career, moving him to second place in franchise history for the most such games. He now only trails Michael Irvin, who has the record with 47.
28
Heading into the week, there was a lot of dialogue around the Cowboys' middle LB role and whether or not Logan Wilson would get more snaps there. Wilson did, with 28, and Kenneth Murray not far behind with 20.
31
With four kickoff returns for a total of 124 yards, KaVontae Turpin's 31 yards per return set a season high, a much-needed improvement from the previous two weeks of Turpins' struggles in the return game. His longest return of the night was a 40 yarder to give Dallas good starting field position.
51.2%
Dak Prescott was pressured on 51.2% of his dropbacks against the Vikings, the highest pressure rate he's faced since Week 12 of the 2022 season when the Cowboys beat the New York Giants 28-20. Against pressure on Sunday night, Prescott completed nine of his 19 passes for 120 yards.
77
One of the bright spots for Dallas' defense was their continued success defending the opposing run game, as the Vikings gained just 77 yards on 28 attempts, good for 2.8 yards per carry.
