Cowboys place CB Trevon Diggs on IR

The Cowboys have moved cornerback Trevon Diggs to injured reserve on Saturday before the flight to Denver.

Diggs, who missed the last game with a concussion, did not practice this week. A knee injury was also added for Diggs on this week's injury report.

Being on IR, Diggs won't be eligible to return until Thanksgiving.

Diggs has played six of seven games this year. He missed most of last season with a knee injury that he rehabbed all offseason and training camp.

The Cowboys will rely on cornerbacks DaRon Bland and Kaiir Elam as the starters, along with Trikwese Bridges, Caelen Carson and Reddy Stewart. This week, the Cowboys also elevated Corey Ballentine from the practice squad.

Obviously, the Diggs news is the latest in odd occurrences for the sixth-year cornerback.

The Cowboys exercised a $500,000 clause in Diggs' contract this summer because he didn't rehab at the Cowboys facility. And then last week's concussion was suffered at a home incident in which details haven't been revealed.

When he's on the field, Diggs has been productive, earning two Pro Bowls including a magical 2021 season when he has 11 interceptions, tying a Cowboys single season record.
