FRISCO, Texas – The Cowboys are expected to interview Eagles defensive backs coach and pass game coordinator Christian Parker on Wednesday for their vacant defensive coordinator position.
Parker becomes the seventh candidate in Dallas' search for a defensive coordinator since the team released Matt Eberflus on January 6.
Parker has spent the last two seasons with Philadelphia working under defensive coordinator Vic Fangio. The Eagles have finished as a top-10 defensive unit against the pass in the last two seasons while Parker has been on the staff.
In Parker's first season with the team in 2024, the Eagles were the best passing defensive in the league, allowing 174.2 yards per game. There, he helped develop rookie corners Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean, two instrumental parts of their secondary that helped Philadelphia win Super Bowl LIX under Parker's watch in their rookie seasons.
In 2025, both Mitchell and DeJean took the next step under Parker, both being named first-team All-Pros at their positions and earning Pro Bowl nods. Mithcell allowed just one touchdown when targeted and allowed the lowest completion percentage when targeted of all corners with at least 500 coverage snaps at 42.4%. DeJean led all slot corners in that same category with 59.7%, along with 15 passes defensed and two interceptions.
After wrapping up his playing career at Richmond, Parker began coaching in the college ranks at Virginia State in 2013 as the defensive backs coach at just 22 years old. After two seasons there, he held the same role at Norfolk State beginning in 2015.
In 2017, joined Notre Dame's staff as a defensive analyst for a year before holding the same role at Texas A&M the following season. From there, he landed his first role in the NFL with the Packers as a defensive quality control coach in 2019.
After two seasons in Green Bay, Parker landed his first NFL position coaching job with the Denver Broncos as the defensive backs coach. While there, he helped develop Patrick Surtain to a rookie season where he had four interceptions, followed by two Pro Bowls and a first-team All Pro season in 2022. He joined the Eagles' staff following the 2023 season.
