With the draft now complete, who was your favorite pick and why? – Chris Harris/Tulsa, OK

Nick: I think it always starts with the top with things like this because the first pick is the one who can make the biggest difference. So of course, my favorite pick was Tyler Booker. I just think the offensive line needed to be addressed again because of Zack Martin's retirement. I just like having guys up there you don't have to worry about and Booker fits the bill.

But after that, I'd probably say Shavon Revel Jr., the cornerback from ECU. And the reason for that is because the Cowboys truly stuck to the board and it didn't matter that he's not going to be at full strength right away. This was an example of a first-year head coach that knows he's got a little more time than others. If this was Mike McCarthy last year, knowing they had to win to keep his job, you might not be OK with getting a cornerback that isn't ready to help you right now.

But that's not the case. Revel is going to be a really good player. This team knows how to rehab ACL injuries better than anyone and if he comes along like he is expected to, Revel could be the steal of the draft, not just with the Cowboys but the rest of the league.

Patrik: I'm right there with Eatman on Revel being right there at the top of my list, though I'll pivot to Donovan Ezeiruaku for this answer because, my goodness, what a freak of a talent he is at the edge. I mentioned this in my post-pick scouting report on the incoming rookie and I stand by it: his bend and twitch remind me of peak Randy Gregory and/or David Irving, and his ability to rush the passer (16.5 sacks in 2024) and to defend the run (one of the best in this year's class in that category) along with forcing takeaways (8 forced fumbles in his career at Boston College) drove him to a first-round grade on my board.

The fact he was still available at 44th-overall is a coup by the Cowboys, and particularly when you look at combining him with Micah Parsons, the return of Sam Williams and a very promising former second-round pick (2023) in Marshawn Kneeland and, not to be forgotten, the return of Dante Fowler at the edge. Ezeiruaku is nothing short of the annual "blinking light" for the Cowboys, as was Revel — the irony being the former will help make the latter better by virtue of terrorizing quarterbacks into making mistakes.
