Sure, Dallas beat a winless team, but the Jets had three one-score losses (Steelers, Dolphins, Buccaneers) and could have easily been 3-1 when the Cowboys came to town. They have a star wide receiver (Garrett Wilson), a star defensive tackle (Quinnen Williams), an up-and-coming pass rusher (Will McDonald) and a heck of a cornerback (Sauce Gardener). Why do people seem to discredit wins*?* – Donny King/Jacksonville, AR
Mickey: Bunch of haters, right. Who are these people you say? You are right on all of that. Plus, you realize the Cowboys were only 1½ point favorites to win the game, what would be their first road victory of the season. Hey, in this NFL, a win is a win. Go ask the Eagles, losing at home to Denver. Go ask Baltimore, losing to the then one-win Texans. Or Buffalo, losing at home to the then one-win Patriots. The Cowboys merely did what they should have done, put these Jets away early, at one point up 30-3. Sure, the Jets are now 0-5, so not only did the Cowboys win the game, but they won in impressive fashion. Plus, they were missing three Pro Bowl players in the game, CeeDee Lamb, Tyler Smith and KaVontae Turpin, not to mention having to overcome those four missing offensive line starters, plus their starting safety (Malik Hooker) and early in the game their starting middle linebacker (Jack Sanborn). Pay no attention to the negativity.
Tommy: I think it's because a lot of folks look at a team's record, and rightfully so, because at the end of the day this league is all about wins and losses. In the case of Week 5, the Jets have good players but aren't playing as a great team right now, which is why they have yet to win a game. I see the Cowboys' victory there as a game that they should've won the way they did, and it was just more impressive with how they won it given the injuries they dealt with. If we've learned anything about the NFL this season through five games, it's that there's so much parity and anybody can win on any given Sunday. So, which version of each team shows up? The Cowboys have shown good versions of themselves, but they've also shown some rough patches like in Weeks 2 and 3. It's going to come down to what can each team consistently do well, but at the end of the day, it's difficult to win consistently in the NFL and wins can sometimes be hard to come by, so you take each and every one you can get.
