We had two of the best defensive tackles in the league for most of last season in Quinnen Williams and Kenny Clark and still had a porous run defense. Was it due more to the lack of linebackers coming up quickly to fill in holes rather than the defensive line play? Do you think there's going to be improvement there and with the run defense overall?  Fred London/Morristown, TN

Patrik:

Tommy: There should be improvement. A full offseason of work together for Quinnen Williams and Kenny Clark is going to be big. I think that already in training camp we've seen the two of them contribute to making it very difficult to run on the Cowboys when they're on the field together, although training camp practices and joint practices can be tricky to test just how good a team can run the ball/stop the run. I also think the personnel switch Dallas went through this offseason by getting bigger on the defensive line, adding players like Otito Ogbonnia and Rashan Gary, will help in the run game too. Lastly, you would think that this scheme under Christian Parker makes it easier for linebackers to fill in their gaps
