The Cowboys signed Peyton Hendershot as an undrafted free agent following the 2022 NFL Draft, adding an explosive tight end who has the ability to stretch the defense and make plays after the catch. In his rookie season, Hendershot played in all 17 games and started two, recording 11 catches for 103 yards and two touchdowns, also rushing one time for a two-yard score. He teamed with rookie fourth round draft pick Jake Ferguson to mark the first time two rookie tight ends caught a touchdown in the same season for the Cowboys. With the departure of Dalton Schultz in free agency, the Cowboys will look for a second-year jump from Hendershot to give the passing game some juice.
