Biography
4th round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
PRO: With sustained success at center for the better part of seven years - and the retirement announcement by Pro Bowler Travis Frederick - the Dallas Cowboys tabbed the best center in the country when they traded to get back in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft to select Tyler Biadasz. Biadasz, like his predecessor Frederick, hails from Wisconsin and played for the Badgers. As a rookie, Biadasz began the season as a reserve lineman, seeing time on special teams, but was forced into a starting role after Joe Looney injured his knee four games in. Biadasz then started the next four games, but landed on Reserve/Injured with a hamstring injury suffered against Pittsburgh (11/8). He returned as a reserve to play in the final four games of the season. He will return in 2021 looking to take on the role as Dallas' starting center.
TRANSACTION SUMMARY:
11/21/20: Placed on Reserve/Injured with a hamstring injury and activated (12/12).
4/25/20: Drafted in the fourth round (146th overall) by Dallas.
2020:
- Played in 12 games with four starts, missing four on Reserve/Injured with a hamstring injury.
- Made his NFL debut seeing time on special teams and taking a couple of snaps at center in the season opener at the LA Rams (9/13).
- Stepped in for Looney (knee) on the second snap of the game, and finished the game against Cleveland (10/4).
- Made his first career start in the game against the N.Y. Giants (10/11), in place of Looney (IR-knee) and helped the offense to 400-plus yards and 30-plus points for the fourth straight game to tie the club's longest streak. Protected Andy Dalton, who stepped in for Dak Prescott (ankle), to throw for 111 yards on nine-of-11 passes.
- Started four straight games before injuring his hamstring prior to the start of the game against Pittsburgh (11/8), placed on Reserve/Injured (11/21) and missed four games.
- Returned at Cincinnati (12/13), finishing the season as a reserve, playing mainly on special teams.
COLLEGE:
- Was the first Rimington Trophy winner in school history and the second unanimous first-team All-American, also earning first-team All-Big Ten (consensus) and Academic All-Big Ten honors as a junior.
- Played all 41 career games with two-time Doak Walker Award winner Jonathan Taylor, helping Taylor become the first player in FBS history to rush for 6,000 yards in just three seasons.
- Started all 14 games at center as a junior and was named a team captain, helping the Badgers average 233.1 rushing yards-per-game and 5.3 yards-per-attempt. Allowed just one sack in 390 pass blocking snaps.
- Earned All-America and first-team All-Big Ten honors as a sophomore, starting all 13 games at center and keying a rushing attack that ranked first in the Big Ten and sixth nationally, averaging 273.4 yards-per-game.
- Freshman All-America and Academic All-Big Ten, starting all 14 games at center after redshirting in 2016, helping pave the way for Doak Walker finalist Taylor, who set the FBS freshman rushing record with 1,977 yards.
